Cleaning and care

Erase on a dry surface with a clean eraser, and use water and a microfiber cloth when the board needs more. Never use soap on the writing surface.

4 steps

  1. Before first use

Remove the protective film. Clean the whole writing surface with water and a microfiber cloth, and let it dry completely before you write.

  2. After use

Erase on a dry surface with a clean eraser, and do not use water with the eraser: ink in the eraser’s microfiber cloth can dissolve in the water and smear across the board. Wash or replace the cloth often, as a cloth full of old ink puts it back on the board. All our erasers have a removable microfiber cloth that can be washed.

  3. Thorough clean

If the board is dirtier than usual, or the eraser does not remove the ink, use water and a microfiber cloth. Ink that has been on the board for a long time can be harder to remove. If the surface is heavily soiled, use an alcohol-based whiteboard cleaner (isopropanol). Let the surface dry completely before you write, and never write on a wet board. Never use soap-based cleaners, which make ink smear, or window cleaner, which leaves a film. Tell whoever does the cleaning.

  4. Permanent marker

Start with water and a microfiber cloth. If that is not enough, try an alcohol-based whiteboard cleaner (isopropanol). Some stains may remain. If ordinary whiteboard marker is hard to erase, try another brand and replace the eraser cloth too.

By material

  • Fabric

Vacuum and dry-brush. Treat stains with a slightly damp cloth and, if needed, a soap solution for fabric. Do not soak the fabric or rub hard. A fabric cleaner does not belong on the writing surface.

  • Cork and bulletin board

Wipe with a slightly damp cloth, with a mild soap solution if needed. Wipe again with a damp cloth, then dry. Do not leave the edges damp for long.

  • Oiled oak

Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dry. Wipe up spills right away. Shallow scratches in solid oiled oak can be sanded lightly along the grain and oiled with an oil that suits the finish. Test somewhere hidden first and protect nearby glass and fabric. This does not apply to lacquered or veneered parts, and deeper damage needs a furniture repair professional. Oily cloths can self-ignite, so handle them as the oil manufacturer instructs.
